Fay Dora Owle Ludwig, age 73, of Cherokee NC passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her 5 daughters; Sherrene Ludwig Swayney, Kristine Ludwig Gunter, LeeAnn Ludwig Back, Lory Ludwig all of Cherokee NC and Melanie Ludwig McCoy of Bryson City NC. Son-in-laws; Sam Swayney, Lee Johnson, Bill McCoy and Will Harris Jr. 15 Grandchildren; Eric Swayney (Savanah), Carey Swayney (Selena), Robert Franklin Ludwig II (Isabella), Nicole Kilby (John Tramper), Darren Swayney (Cassie), Justin Swayney (DJ), Jeremy Swayney (Jayme), Jeremiah Pheasant Jr., Dalilah Pheasant (Enrique), Megan Kilby, Joshua Pheasant, ShayLee Back, Tybee Back, Destyni Johnson and Hunter Swayney. 23 Great-Grandchildren also survive. Brothers; Sam Owl (Debra) and Michael Owle, both of Cherokee, NC. Sisters; Shirley Rose Schilling of Massachusetts, Carol Owl and Susan Owle Keener (Dave) of Cherokee NC. Aunts; Ethelyn Owle Roberts of Cherokee NC and Betty Jane Owle Crawford of California. Uncle, Irvin Owle of Cheroke NC. Life long friends; Phyllis Hauck, Sharon Calhoun Brandau, Diane Jordan and Ruthie Motyczka Goode. Fay was preceded in death by her Husband of 41 years, Robert Franklin Ludwig. Parents, Samuel Foch Owle and Mary Jane Wysocki Owle. Brother, Donald Rose. Sister, Callie Owle. In-Laws, Franklin and Lillian Ludwig. Brother-in-laws; Paul Shilling, Bill Ludwig and Dennis Wolfe. Sister-in-laws; Kathryn Owle, Mary Jane Ludwig and Eileen Ludwig Erdosi. Aunt, Dora Owle George. Uncles; John Owle, Charlie Owle, Benjamin Owle, Alfred Owle and Joseph Owle. Fay loved her job and retired from Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians on December 31, 2020. After 15 years of service in Housekeeping. She was a member of Cherokee Church of Christ, a member of the Sam Owl VFW Post 8013 Ladies Auxiliary and an Honored Woman for the Tsalagi Warrior Society of Cherokee NC. As well as the Inter Tribal Warrior Society of Tennessee. A visitation will be held on Saturday January 15, 2022 beginning at 12:00pm until the hour of service starting at 2:30pm, with Jim Sexton officiating. Burial will be in the Birdtown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Eric Swayney, Frankie Ludwig, Carey Swayney, Darren Swayney, Justin Swayney, Jeremy Swayney, Jeremiah Pheasant and Joshuah Pheasant. Honorary Pallbearers are; John Tramper, Enrique Esteban-Hemphill, Cody Jones and Antonio Martinez. *MASKS ARE REQUIRED* Long House Funeral Home assisted the Family with final arrangements.
