Obituary of Raymond Dennis Cucumber

Raymond Dennis Cucumber, age 60, of the Wolftown Community in Cherokee NC, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on April 20, 2021 after an extended illness. Raymond was a 1985 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, he held many accounting positions with The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, he was a teacher and held numerous positions throughout his adult life.. He is the son of the late Everette (Ed) Cucumber and Letha Cucumber. Raymond is survived by his Brother Melvin (Fuzz) Cucumber. Francis (Pokey) Cucumber, Frank, Judy and Angie Cucumber. Special Nieces, Erica Bradley (Mouse), Cayla (Boss) Cucumber and Kamiyo Lanning (Mack). Special Nephew James Cucumber. Great Nieces, Kyren Bradley and Tenaya Rosario. Great Nephews, Eli Lanning, Julian Lanning, Traelin Carey, Kaeson Reed, Ryland Cucumber, Truitt Lambert and Malakia Cucumber. Cousins, Charlotte (Pug) Saunooke and Johnny Ray Hicks. Special Friend, Pug Fox. Raymond was also preceded in death by his brother Marion (Sonny) Cucumber and Sister, Florence Gail Cucumber. Paternal Grandfather, Amoneeta Saunooke. Maternal Grandmother, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Reed Cucumber. Special Niece, Casey Bradley. Special Friend, Brian Fox and numerous aunts and uncles. A visitation will be held in the chapel of Long House Funeral Home on April 22, 2021 beginning at 6:00pm until 9:00pm. A formal funeral service will be held at 10:00am on April 23, 2021, with Dan Conseen officiating. Burial will be in Cucumber Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be among Family and Friends. Long House Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.
